چکیده

Kinetic investigations on Pd(II) catalyzed oxidation of D-ribose and D-arabinose by acidic solution of chloramine-T in the presence of mercuric acetate, as a scavenger have been made in the temperature range of 30°-45°C. The rate shows first order kinetics in case of chloramine-T and order of reaction is zero and one with respect to substrate and Pd(II) respectively. Increase in [Cl] showed positive effect, while [H+] showed zero effect.Negligible effect of mercuric acetate and ionic strength of the medium was observed. A transient complex, formed between PdCl2 and chloramine-T. PdCl2 being the reactive species of Palladium(II) chloride, disproportionates in a slow and rate determining step. Various activation parameters have been calculated. A suitable mechanism in agreement with observed kinetics has been proposed.

Catalytic-Spectrophotometric Determination of Trace Amounts of Manganese(II) by Catalysis of the Oxidation of Ferroin with Periodate

A catalytic spectrophotometric method for determination of ultra-trace quantities of manganese(II) id described. The method is based on the catalytic effect of manganese(II) on the oxidation reaction of ferroin by potassium periodate in acidic media. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically at 510 nm by a slope method and Mn(II) is determinable in the range of 1-1000ngmL-1</sup...

Oxidation of tricyclic antidepressant drugs with chloramine-T in acidic solutions: kinetic, mechanistic and thermodynamic studies

The kinetics of the oxidation of two tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) namely, imipramine (IMP) and clomipramine (CLM) with sodium N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide or chloramine-T (CAT) in HClO4 medium was studied at 300 K. The two reactions followed identical kinetics with a first-order dependence of rate on [CAT]o and fractional order dependence on [TCA]o. The reaction is catalyzed by H(+) ions wi...

Kinetic study of ethanol and methanol electro-oxidation on Pd-vulcan XC-72R/Cu electrocatalyst in alkaline media

Abstract In this study , palladium nano-particles were electro deposited galvano - statically on carbon black powder (Vulcan XC -72R). The catalytic activity for electro - oxidation of ethanol and methanol in alkaline media were studied by cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry techniques. The results indicated that the electro-oxidation of ethanol and methanol strongly depends o...
